GMTK Game Jam Submission –
Engine: Godot | First Game Jam | First Finished Project

This was my very first game jam—and also the first project I’ve truly taken across the finish line. It was an intense weekend, and although the game is a rough prototype, I’m genuinely proud of what I managed to create.

Game Concept:
You play as a mad scientist determined to prove the world wrong by showcasing his greatest invention: the “World’s Most Accurate Scale.” No one believes him, so he begins piling everything around him onto the scale—cars, people, anything he can grab—in a mission to stack high enough to reach the moon.

The concept combines chaotic stacking mechanics with a twist on traditional scale physics—imagine Tetris meets Katamari Damacy, with a pinch of narrative absurdity.

What Went Right:

  • The core idea was simple and fun: grab objects with the mouse, rotate them, and try to balance them without letting everything tumble.

  • The visual feedback and wacky physics created a playful, unpredictable experience that even surprised me at times.

  • I managed to add a basic ending condition with some last-minute energy (though it may not trigger perfectly every time).

What I Learned:

  • Planning and managing a codebase under pressure is no joke—organization quickly became a challenge.

  • Polish takes time, and perfection shouldn't delay progress. Finishing something is better than waiting forever for the “perfect” project.

  • Game jams are a great space to take creative risks and grow through iteration.

Controls:

  • Left-click to grab an object

  • Mouse wheel to rotate

  • Release the mouse button to drop the item—there are no second chances!

Limitations:

  • No audio

  • Some object stacking bugs

  • No real win/lose screen—just vibes and a giant, ridiculous scale

If you have feedback or advice—especially about staying organized during development, or tips for managing messy Godot codebases—I’d love to hear it. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy this little chaotic experiment.

And also, thank you to this amazing people that I got the assets from:

If you're on Chrome and can't see the full screen like me, just increase the zoom on your browser (for me it's Ctrl and + together)!

Unfortunately, it's not working for me. The background loads and nothing happens.
I am trying this on Linux + Chrome.

I am sorry to hear that. I should have submitted a linux build but, unfortunately, this is completely out of my control now. I will be taking this into consideration in my next entries. Thanks for commenting!

No worries. The Jam requirements were Windows. This is why I have not put any rating. Just wanted to give a heads up in case you want to improve it in the future.

I love the art on this!

I can't take credit for anything besides the badly cropped scale, some modulating, one of the fonts and the gradient in the background. But the assets are very cool. Thanks for commenting!
